Placements24 seeks a Senior Nanotechnology Researcher (Sensor Development) in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA. Lead design, synthesis, and testing of nanomaterials and nano-devices for advanced sensing applications in a cutting-edge R&D setting.

You will leverage expertise in nanoscience, materials science, and electrical engineering to advance sensor performance, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor researchers.

Qualifications

• PhD in Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of post-doctoral or industry R&D experience in nanotechnology with sensor development focus.
• Proven expertise in nanomaterial synthesis and characterization.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, synthesis, and characterization of nanomaterials for sensor applications.
• Fabricate and test nano-devices, including sensors for chemical, biological, and physical stimuli.
• Use advanced characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, AFM, XPS, electrical probing).
• Develop theoretical models and simulations to guide material design and device performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sensor technologies.
• Manage research projects, including budget, timeline, and resources.
• Publish findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to patent applications.
