Placements24 is seeking a Research Scientist specializing in Nanotechnology Applications to join our client’s R&D team in Nelspruit. You will design, synthesize, and characterize nanomaterials and evaluate their performance in prototype devices across electronics, energy, and biomedicine sectors.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field with nanotechnology focus.
• At least 3 years post-doctoral experience in nanotechnology development.
• Proven synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles, nanotubes, quantum dots, or 2D materials.
• Experience with TEM, SEM, AFM, XRD, spectroscopy.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities.
• Experience applying nanomaterials to catalysis, energy storage, biomedicine, or electronics is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, and characterize novel nanomaterials.
• Investigate properties using advanced characterization techniques (TEM, SEM, AFM, XRD, spectroscopy).
• Develop and test prototype devices and systems with nanomaterials.
• Collaborate with engineers and product developers to integrate nanomaterial solutions.
• Maintain detailed records of procedures and results; prepare reports and presentations.
• Stay current with advancements in nanotechnology and materials science.
• Ensure laboratory safety and best practices; contribute to IP via publications and patents.
• Contribute to intellectual property generation through patent applications and publications.
