Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to lead operational excellence in Soweto, Gauteng. You will develop innovative mining plans, evaluate technologies, and manage a team to maximize resource extraction, safety, and productivity in a world-class operation.

The role requires 10+ years in mining with Pr.Eng. registration and hands-on expertise in Deswik/Vulcan/Surpac, as well as strong leadership and stakeholder engagement to drive continuous improvement across underground/open pit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA required.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive mining experience with leadership.
• Experience with mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) and 3D modeling.
• Strong knowledge of underground/open pit methods, safety, and rehab.

Responsibilities

• Develop long- and short-term mine plans and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) registration with ECSA is essential.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining engineering, with significant operational leadership roles.
• Proven track record of successfully managing and optimizing mining operations.
• Expertise in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) and 3D modeling.
• In-depth knowledge of various mining methods (underground and/or open pit) and their applications.
• Strong understanding of mine safety regulations, environmental compliance, and rehabilitation practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and complex projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience working within the Gauteng mining landscape is highly advantageous.
• Valid driver's license.
