This crucial role involves the strategic planning, design, and execution of mining activities to maximize resource recovery while ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. You will work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operational teams to optimize production, improve efficiency, and manage the overall lifecycle of the mine. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of underground and open-pit mining methods and a commitment to fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement within the mining department.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop short-term and long-term mine plans, including production schedules, equipment allocation, and resource utilization.
• Design and implement safe and efficient mining methods, considering both underground and open-pit operations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
• Monitor mine performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Supervise and mentor a team of mining engineers and technical staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mine planning and operations.
• Proficiency in mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac.
• Strong understanding of mine ventilation, ground control, and mine economics.

• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration or eligibility is highly desirable.
