• Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Mining Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum 7 years of mining economics or project finance experience with a focus on feasibility studies and valuations.
• Proficient in financial modeling using Excel and specialized software.
• Strong understanding of mining project lifecycles and economics.
• Experience in consultancy environment is advantageous.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and execute comprehensive economic feasibility studies for mining projects.
• Perform detailed financial modeling, including cash flow analysis, net present value (NPV) calculations, and internal rate of return (IRR) assessments.
• Conduct commodity price forecasting and sensitivity analyses.
• Value mining assets and projects using various methodologies.
• Analyze operational costs, capital expenditures, and project risks.
• Prepare clear, concise, and compelling economic reports and presentations for clients and senior management.
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists to integrate technical data into economic evaluations.
• Stay current with global commodity markets, mining finance trends, and economic best practices.
• Advise clients on investment strategies and financial risk management.
• Ensure economic evaluations meet industry standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).

About the Role

Our client, a highly respected international mining consultancy, is seeking an accomplished Senior Mining Economist to join their strategic advisory team. This role, operating from Nelspruit, Mpumalanga , will be instrumental in conducting economic feasibility studies, asset valuations, and financial modeling for a diverse portfolio of mining projects globally. You will analyze technical data, market conditions, and operational costs to determine the economic viability of mining ventures. The ideal candidate will possess a strong financial acumen, extensive experience in mining project finance, and a deep understanding of economic principles applied to the extractive industries. This position requires exceptional analytical skills, proficiency in financial modeling software, and the ability to communicate complex economic insights effectively to clients and stakeholders. You will play a key role in supporting investment decisions for significant mining developments. • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with experience presenting to diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Experience working in a consultancy environment is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings and site visits from Nelspruit .
