Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Geologist for our client in Bloemfontein, Free State. The role focuses on accurate geological interpretation, resource estimation, and integrating geology into mine planning.

You will lead geological modelling, supervise junior staff, manage databases, and ensure safety and environmental standards while supporting exploration and production teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Geology or related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum 8 years in mine geology with resource estimation and operations support.
• Experience with geological modelling software (Leapfrog, Vulcan, Surpac, Micromine).
• Strong understanding of ore deposit types and geological environments.
• Experience in planning and executing drilling programs.
• Excellent analytical and collaborative skills; Pro.Sci.Nat. is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping, core logging and sampling.
• Perform resource and reserve estimations using standard software.
• Develop geological models to inform mine planning and design.
• Supervise junior geologists and technicians with mentorship.
• Collaborate with mine planning and production engineers to integrate geology into operations.
• Manage and maintain geological databases with data integrity.
• Oversee QA/QC procedures for geological data collection and analysis.
• Contribute to exploration programs and target generation.
• Prepare geological reports and presentations for management.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental standards.
