Job summary

Travelstart is seeking an experienced Python Developer to join our Technology team in Cape Town. This hands-on backend role focuses on building scalable APIs, integrations and automation in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Product and Operations, contribute to architecture decisions, and mentor less experienced developers as needed. We welcome mid or senior level applicants with 4+ years of experience and a strong ownership

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience developing software using Python.
• Experience building backend applications, APIs and integration services.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and service-based architectures.
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend applications and services using Python.
• Build and support APIs and integrations across internal and third-party systems.
• Write automated tests and participate in peer code reviews.
• Work within CI/CD and deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot production issues and monitor system performance.
