Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior Metallurgist to lead the mineral processing team in Randburg. The role focuses on optimizing metallurgical performance, improving recovery rates, and ensuring efficient operation of processing plants.

You will drive process development, troubleshoot operations, and implement best practices to maximize value from mined resources while contributing to profitability and operational efficiency in Gauteng.

Qualifications

• Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in mineral processing, with base or precious metals.
• Proven track record in process optimization and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with metallurgical simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Strong leadership, communication and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize metallurgical processes including crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching and refining.
• Conduct metallurgical test work, analyze results, and recommend improvements.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to improve plant efficiency and recovery.
• Develop and manage budgets for the metallurgy department.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Mentor and guide junior metallurgists and plant operators.
