Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of progressive mechanical design and systems engineering experience.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software and PDM/PLM systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with FEA and simulation tools.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a hybrid setting.

Responsabilités

• Lead the design of complex mechanical systems for industrial machinery.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using advanced CAD software.
• Perform engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, electrical, and controls engineers to ensure seamless system integration and optimal production.
• Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and other technical documentation.
• Participate actively in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and implementing recommendations.
• Troubleshoot design issues and engineer effective solutions throughout the product development cycle.
• Research and propose new materials, technologies, and design approaches to enhance product performance.
• Ensure designs adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality policies.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, material science, and manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly).
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, effective in a hybrid setting.
• Proven ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Must be able to work hybrid and commute to Kimberley, Northern Cape as required.
• Experience in the design of heavy machinery or automation systems is highly desirable.
