About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to oversee and optimize mechanical systems within their industrial plant in Vereeniging . This critical role involves ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, troubleshooting complex mechanical failures, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for a hands‑on engineer with a strong background in industrial plant operations and a passion for operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all plant machinery.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for mechanical equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and repair of mechanical systems and components.
• Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships effectively.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards related to plant operations.
• Lead a team of maintenance technicians and mechanical fitters, providing technical guidance and performance management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial plant maintenance and operations.
• Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of industrial mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, turbines, conveyors).
• Strong knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) .
• Experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and asset management .
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
