Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Queenstown plant operations team. You will lead troubleshooting, implement prevention strategies and drive improvements to ensure reliability and safety of industrial machinery.

The role requires strong leadership, deep mechanical knowledge and the ability to work under pressure to support a key facility in the Eastern Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in an industrial plant/manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, handling systems and process equipment.
• Experience with CMMS and predictive maintenance technologies.
• Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proven leadership and cross-team communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical integrity and performance of plant equipment.

About the Role

You will lead troubleshooting efforts, implement preventative maintenance strategies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of mechanical systems in an industrial setting and excels at problem-solving under pressure, contributing to the operational success of a key facility in the Eastern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the mechanical integrity and performance of plant equipment, including rotating machinery, piping, and structural components.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Provide technical expertise and support to maintenance teams and operations personnel.
• Manage small to medium capital improvement projects related to plant upgrades and modifications.
