Job summary

Eskom is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Randburg team to design, analyze, and implement mechanical systems for energy projects including power plants. You will ensure efficiency, reliability, and safety of equipment, with expertise in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.

The role requires on-site work, collaboration with project teams, and a strong background in mechanical engineering within the energy sector.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 9+ years in mechanical engineering with power generation/industrial processing focus.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify mechanical equipment (turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, piping).
• Perform detailed engineering calculations (stress, thermal, CFD).
• Develop specifications, P&IDs, datasheets.
• Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of systems.
• Root cause analysis for mechanical failures and corrective actions.
• Ensure designs meet codes, standards, and safety regs.
