Job summary

Network Contracting is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead in-house design and product development. You will perform first-principles calculations or FEA, create 3D CAD models and drawings in SolidWorks, and assemble BOMs and QCPs.

You will manage projects from concept to delivery, coordinate procurement and logistics, plan resources, review inspections, and maintain regular client communication. Essential: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering; at least 3 years in a mid-level mechanical role

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• At least 3 years' experience in a mid-level mechanical engineering role with exposure to design engineering and project execution.
• Strong interest and proven capability in mechanical design and engineering innovation.

Responsibilities

• Lead in-house mechanical design and product development activities.
• Perform engineering calculations using first principles and FEA or simulation tools where required.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop complete manufacturing documentation, including BOMs, QCPs, work instructions and technical manuals.
• Manage vendors and suppliers through fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Review engineering deliverables and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and quality requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical personnel.
• Oversee engineering projects from concept through to completion across service, repair, manufacturing, design and product development.
• Prepare quotations and oversee project execution.
• Coordinate procurement and logistics activities.
• Plan project resources and schedules.
• Review inspection reports and engineering documentation.
• Compile and submit project data books.
• Monitor manufacturing, quality control, project progress and close-out.
• Maintain regular communication with clients and internal stakeholders regarding project status.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design & Development (Approximately 70%)

• Lead in-house mechanical design and product development activities.
• Perform engineering calculations using first principles and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or simulation tools where required.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop complete manufacturing documentation, including:
  • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Quality Control Plans (QCPs)
  • Work Instructions
  • Technical Manuals
• Manage vendors and suppliers throughout the fabrication and manufacturing process.
• Review engineering deliverables and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, specifications and quality requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical personnel.

Project Engineering & Delivery (Approximately 30%)

• Manage engineering projects from concept through to completion across service, repair, manufacturing, design and product development activities.
• Prepare quotations and oversee project execution.
• Coordinate procurement and logistics activities.
• Plan project resources and schedules.
• Review inspection reports and engineering documentation.
• Compile and submit project data books.
• Monitor manufacturing, quality control, project progress and successful close-out.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in a mid-level mechanical engineering role, with exposure to design engineering and project execution.
• Demonstrated experience within the Heavy Engineering, Offshore, Oil & Gas or Subsea industries.
• Strong interest and proven capability in mechanical design and engineering innovation.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and detailed engineering drawings.
• Experience performing engineering calculations using first principles, with exposure to FEA or simulation software.
• Sound understanding of fabrication, manufacturing processes and engineering documentation.
• Excellent project management, planning and organisational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
