Placements24 seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative engineering team on a remote basis, supporting operations near Rustenburg. You will design and develop mechanical components and systems using CAD tools and advanced simulations, ensuring manufacturability and performance.

You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and product management in a virtual setting, specify materials and processes, and drive design improvements for cost and reliability.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 8+ years of professional experience focused on mechanical design and product development.
• Expertise in parametric CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) and simulation tools (ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Strong understanding of machining, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for mechanical components and assemblies using advanced CAD software.
• Perform complex engineering analysis, including FEA and CFD, to validate designs and identify optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, and product management teams in a virtual setting to ensure design requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
• Specify materials and manufacturing processes, ensuring designs are optimized for cost, quality, and efficiency.
