Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead concepting, design and detailing of mechanical assemblies for advanced products. This role is remote, supporting operations near Mossel Bay, with collaboration across product management, manufacturing and QA teams.

The ideal candidate has a master's in mechanical engineering, 8+ years in design and development, and hands-on experience with SolidWorks or CATIA and FEA.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Experience with SolidWorks or CATIA and FEA/simulation.
• Track record delivering complex designs from concept to production.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and DFM/DFA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical assemblies and components using advanced CAD software.
• Perform detailed engineering analysis (stress, thermal, and vibration) to validate designs.
• Create technical drawings, specifications, and BOM.
• Collaborate with virtual cross-functional teams (PM, manufacturing, QA).
• Mentor junior engineers on design best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes.
