Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Midrand, Gauteng to lead the design and development of complex industrial automation systems. You will perform analyses, create detailed 3D models and drawings, and collaborate with manufacturing to ensure producibility and quality.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, strong CAD/FEA skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers in a hybrid work setting.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive mechanical design experience in industrial machinery.
• Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred) and FEA analysis.
• Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and standards.
• Excellent communication and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems for industrial automation equipment.
• Perform stress, thermal, and vibration analyses using FEA tools to ensure performance.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks/CATIA.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure producibility, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
• Oversee prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
• Stay updated on new tech and trends to drive design improvements.
• Manage timelines and deliverables for mechanical design tasks.
