Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a remote team supporting operations across regions, including Randburg. You will lead complex mechanical system development, perform advanced FEA-based stress, thermal, and vibration analyses, deliver detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and full technical documentation while mentoring junior engineers in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive mechanical design and product development experience.
• Expertise in CAD and FEA tools; leadership and remote project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of complex mechanical systems from concept to production.
• Perform advanced stress analysis, thermal and vibration simulations with FEA tools.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of intricate mechanical systems from concept to production, ensuring adherence to specifications and performance targets.
• Conduct advanced stress analysis , thermal modeling, and vibration analysis using FEA software.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers, fostering their technical growth and project contributions.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, R&D, and quality assurance, in a remote setting.
• Evaluate new technologies and methodologies to enhance product design and development processes.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and advanced simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to manage complex technical projects remotely.
• Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
