Job summary

MECS Africa is seeking a senior Compliance and Ethics professional to lead the organisation's compliance function within the South African public entity framework. The role involves designing and implementing risk management, ethics programs, and ongoing regulatory monitoring.

The ideal candidate will have a law degree (LLB Honours or equivalent), be admitted as an Attorney, and bring extensive experience in compliance, ethics, and stakeholder engagement across public entities.

Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge of PFMA Schedule 2 Public Entities legislation.
• Ability to interpret and advise on complex legal applications within compliance.
• Experience in compliance and ethics leadership and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement programs to assess and manage legal and regulatory compliance risks.
• Oversee and review Compliance Frameworks and Policies.
• Monitor legislative changes and ensure organisational awareness.
• Manage ethics policies, training, and incident investigations.
• Provide advisory support to management and the Board on compliance and governance matters.
• Prepare reports for Exco and the Board and promote ethical conduct across the organisation.
• Lead a team within the compliance function and manage budgets.
