Placements24 seeks a Senior Lighting Artist for a renowned game studio in Benoni, Gauteng. You will shape mood, atmosphere, and visual fidelity of immersive environments, collaborating with artists and art directors to elevate gameplay.

The ideal candidate has a strong portfolio, real-time lighting proficiency in Unreal Engine or Unity, and experience with baking and PBR workflows. You will mentor juniors and help refine lighting pipelines.

Qualifications

• Experience as Lighting Artist in video games with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in Unreal Engine or Unity lighting systems.
• Solid understanding of lighting, color theory, and composition.
• Experience baking and real-time lighting; familiar with PBR workflows.
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-quality lighting for game environments using engines.
• Establish lighting mood, color palettes, and visual direction for levels.
• Collaborate with environment artists to align lighting with assets.
• Optimize lighting for performance across platforms.
• Create and manage light probes, reflection captures, and lighting assets.
• Troubleshoot lighting-related issues and bugs.
• Stay updated on real-time lighting tech and techniques.
• Mentor junior lighting artists and contribute to pipelines.
