About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Legal Advisor with a strong focus on Commercial Contracts to join their progressive legal team. This hybrid role, based in their bustling Sandton office, is designed for an experienced legal professional who can provide strategic advice and robust contract management across the organization. You will be instrumental in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements, ensuring that they align with business objectives and mitigate legal risks. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional negotiation skills, a thorough understanding of contract law, and the ability to manage complex contractual relationships with vendors, partners, and clients. Key Responsibilities

Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial contracts, including service agreements, master service agreements (MSAs), software licenses, and partnership agreements. Provide expert legal advice on contract interpretation, risk assessment, and dispute resolution. Develop and implement standardized contract templates and playbooks to enhance efficiency. Manage the contract lifecycle from initiation to execution and ongoing compliance monitoring. Collaborate closely with business units, procurement, and sales teams to understand their contractual needs and provide effective solutions. Ensure all contracts comply with relevant laws and regulations. Advise on contractual implications of new business initiatives and strategies. Support the legal team in managing litigation related to contractual disputes.

Requirements

Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial law, with a significant focus on contract drafting and negotiation. Proven expertise in managing a high volume of diverse commercial agreements. Strong understanding of contract lifecycle management principles and best practices. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing remote work with essential in-office presence in Sandton . Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in legal research and standard contract management software. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
