Job summary

Recruitment Legends in Pretoria is seeking a Senior Lead Solar Installation Foreman to oversee commercial, industrial and high-end residential solar projects from site preparation through commissioning and handover.

The role requires hands-on leadership with 5+ years of foreman or site management experience, strong PV systems knowledge, and fluency in Afrikaans and English. A 3-Phase Wireman licence is highly valued, with SA regulatory compliance and client-facing duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience as a solar foreman or site manager.
• Proven experience in both C&I and residential solar installations.
• Afrikaans and English fluency – Afrikaans essential for site/client communication.
• A Department of Labour registered 3-Phase Wireman's Licence (Installation Electrician or Master Installation Electrician) is a major advantage.
• Experience with solar design, configuration and monitoring platforms such as PVsyst, Helioscope, Deye Cloud, Victron VRM or similar.
• Strong knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-1-2.
• Good understanding of AC/DC cable sizing, voltage drop calculations and PV string configurations.
• Valid South African Code B or EB driver's licence.

• Take responsibility for complete solar installations, including PV, hybrid inverters, BESS and backup generators.
• Read and work from single-line diagrams, structural plans and electrical schematics.
• Conduct pre-installation site assessments and assist with site planning.
• Manage daily site activities, materials, tools and resources.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on time and to a high standard.
• Provide guidance and training to junior team members.
• Oversee inverter and battery configuration and commissioning.
• Assist with fault finding and system optimisation using monitoring platforms.
• Ensure electrical installations comply with the relevant SANS requirements and are suitable for CoC certification.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong experience in both Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and high-end residential solar installations, who can take ownership of projects from site preparation and installation through to commissioning and final handover.
