Job summary

IQ Business Group's Technology Division is seeking an experienced Java Spring Developer to join its software engineering team in Johannesburg. You will design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade banking applications, building scalable backend systems and contributing across the full software development lifecycle.

The role requires 5+ years of Java experience, Spring Boot expertise, RESTful APIs, and familiarity with Docker, Gradle/Maven, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional Java development experience.
Proven ability to develop enterprise-scale applications with Spring Boot.
Experience in Agile software delivery teams.
Banking/financial services experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Java applications using Spring Boot.
Build secure RESTful APIs and microservices.
Create automated unit tests with JUnit.
Manage builds with Gradle or Maven.
Develop and deploy Docker containerized applications.
Collaborate with analysts, solution architects, QA engineers, and frontend developers.
Participate in Agile ceremonies.
Conduct peer code reviews.
Troubleshoot production issues and optimize performance.
Ensure compliance with security, governance, and coding standards.
Stay updated with Java technologies and best practices.
