Job summary

Idbasesoftware in Johannesburg seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Java) to design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java 8+, Spring Boot, and modern cloud-native practices in a fast-paced team.

You will contribute to microservices, RESTful APIs, CI/CD pipelines, Docker containers, and Kubernetes-driven deployments, while ensuring security, performance, and quality through tests and collaboration with product and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience with Java 8+.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Hibernate/JPA.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Knowledge of containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated build/deployment processes.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and secure software development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java 8+ and Spring Boot.
• Build microservices-based architectures with modular components.
• Implement cloud-native solutions on AWS or Azure.
• Develop RESTful APIs, messaging, and asynchronous services.
• Ensure high availability, performance and security of applications.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Containerize with Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes.
• Monitor performance with Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
• Maintain unit and integration tests and automated test frameworks.
• Collaborate in Agile/Scrum with product managers, QA, DevOps.
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Mentor junior developers and support team growth.
