Job summary

UrbanSoft SA PTY is seeking a Senior Java Developer for a hybrid role based in Cape Town or Johannesburg. You will design, develop, and maintain high‑performance Java applications, specializing in microservices with Spring Boot, and containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.

The role requires deep experience with Java 17+, RESTful APIs, cloud deployments, and CI/CD pipelines. Banking domain experience is a strong bonus and you will mentor junior developers in an Agile team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong Java 17+ skills with OOP and SOLID principles.
• Proficient in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate/JPA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java applications with latest tech.
• Architect Microservices using Spring Boot; containerized with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Design RESTful APIs for third‑party integrations.
• Optimize performance; ensure high availability and scalability.
• Implement security per OWASP standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define technical solutions.
• Work with DevOps to implement CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Mentor junior developers; conduct code reviews and enforce best practices.
• Participate in Agile sprint planning and daily stand‑ups.
