Senior IT Systems & Network Administrator

ECOLE INTERNATIONALE ST GEORGES SA Vacant since : 13.10.2026 1815 Clarens (VD) 100% By agreement Permanent

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on IT professional to take operational ownership of the school's day-to-day IT environment.

This is a senior, campus-based technical position combining systems administration, enterprise networking and high-quality user support.

The successful candidate will independently diagnose and resolve complex incidents, maintain the reliability of core IT services and anticipate issues before they disrupt teaching and learning.

They will serve as a key on-site IT contact for staff and work closely with Regional and Global IT teams, following Group technical standards, security policies and change-management procedures.

The role requires sound technical judgement, clear communication and the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver work with limited day-to-day supervision. It is a hands-on position rather than a people-management role.

Key Responsibilities

Campus IT Operations & Technical Ownership

  • Take day-to-day ownership of campus IT operations, from incident triage and diagnosis through resolution, documentation and follow-up.
  • Independently prioritise support requests and operational tasks, with particular urgency for incidents affecting lessons, examinations and essential school services.
  • Proactively monitor recurring issues, service health and technology risks; recommend and implement practical improvements within delegated authority.
  • Act as the senior on-site technical contact, coordinating with school stakeholders, IT colleagues and external suppliers; escalating significant incidents with clear technical evidence and business impact.

Systems, Microsoft 365 & Identity Management

  • Administer Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID, including users, groups, licences, role-appropriate access permissions, authentication and account lifecycle processes.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online, including mailboxes, collaboration services and access-related incidents.
  • Support secure identity practices, including MFA, access controls and the implementation of centrally defined security policies.
  • Investigate service degradation, authentication failures and device-to-cloud integration issues, identifying root causes and implementing controlled fixes.

Endpoint & Device Management

  • Administer Windows endpoints through Microsoft Intune, including enrolment, device configuration, application deployment, policy application and troubleshooting.
  • Support Apple Macs and iPads through Jamf and maintain compliant, reliable device configurations in accordance with Group standards.
  • Manage provisioning, deployment, replacement, patching and end-of-life processes for staff and shared school devices.

Networking & Infrastructure

  • Provide hands-on operation and advanced troubleshooting of the campus wired and wireless network, including switches, access points, network connectivity and related services.
  • Use Cisco Meraki management and diagnostic tools, where authorised, to investigate client connectivity, switch ports, Wi-Fi performance and infrastructure alerts.
  • Diagnose issues involving TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, switching, routing fundamentals, wireless authentication and Internet connectivity; distinguish endpoint, local-network and upstream service faults.
  • Carry out approved network changes, equipment replacements and site deployments in coordination with Regional or Global IT; maintain accurate configurations and documentation.
  • Work with connectivity and network service providers to restore service and prevent repeat incidents.

User Support & Classroom Technology

  • Provide second-line and senior escalation support for complex Windows, Microsoft 365, endpoint, classroom AV/interactive display and peripheral issues, while remaining responsive to urgent day-to-day support needs.
  • Help teachers and staff use school technology effectively; communicate incident status and practical workarounds in accessible, non-technical language.
  • Support PaperCut MF / Find-Me printing and cloud telephony, coordinating specialist suppliers where required.

Security, Documentation & Projects

  • Maintain IT asset records, operational procedures, technical documentation and useful knowledge-base articles.
  • Contribute to refresh programmes, upgrades, onboarding/offboarding and continuous improvement projects, managing assigned on-site activities autonomously.
  • Apply information-security, privacy and safeguarding requirements; identify and promptly elevate security incidents or risks in line with established procedures.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience in IT support, systems administration or network operations, including demonstrable responsibility for independently managing a business or campus IT environment. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Strong practical experience administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID, including identity/access management and troubleshooting Exchange Online services.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows device management using Microsoft Intune, including configuration and deployment workflows.
  • Solid enterprise networking knowledge and evidence of resolving real-world issues involving TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, switching, Wi-Fi and network access.
  • Proven ability to investigate and resolve incidents end-to-end, identify root causes, assess service impact and elevate efficiently when an issue exceeds the role's authority or scope.
  • Ability to work independently on-site, organise competing priorities, communicate clearly with non-technical users and coordinate vendors and remote technical teams.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (at least B2; C1 preferred).
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Hands-on administration or support of Cisco Meraki switches, wireless access points and security appliances.
  • Experience using Jamf School or Jamf Pro to manage Apple Macs and iPads.
  • Experience with MFA, Microsoft Conditional Access, endpoint security, PowerShell or practical IT automation.
  • Familiarity with PaperCut MF, Find-Me printing and cloud-based VoIP services.
  • Previous experience in international education or another multi-user, service-critical environment.
  • Relevant Microsoft or networking certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365/Endpoint Administrator or CCNA), or equivalent proven expertise.
  • French proficiency (B1 or above preferred; B2 a strong advantage).

Safeguarding & Professional Conduct

The successful candidate must uphold the school's commitments to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people, protect confidential information, and follow applicable data protection and information-security policies. Appointment is subject to the relevant pre-employment checks and applicable Swiss legal requirements.
