Job summary

Platform45 in Rosebank, South Africa, is seeking a Senior Mobile Developer (iOS) to lead the design and delivery of scalable iOS apps, guiding junior engineers and collaborating with product, UX, and backend teams. You will own technical direction, drive architecture choices (MVC, MVVM, VIPER), implement robust testing, and ensure high performance and quality.

A strong background in Swift/Objective-C and modern iOS frameworks is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years native iOS (Swift) development with a proven track record of delivering successful apps to the App Store.
• Expertise in Swift and Objective-C, with deep knowledge of the iOS SDK and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.
• Strong experience with mobile architecture patterns (MVC, MVVM, VIPER) and design principles (SOLID, DRY).
• Experience with advanced iOS frameworks such as Core Data, Core Animation, and Core Location.
• Expertise in integrating RESTful APIs and managing third-party libraries.
• Proven experience in performance optimization, memory management, and debugging iOS applications.
• Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD, and automated testing tools.
• Having experience working within a high-growth tech startup would be an advantage.
• Have brilliant problem-solving abilities and the ability to articulate solutions for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of scalable iOS applications meeting client requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to development teams ensuring best practices and architectural principles are followed.
• Take full responsibility for projects and problem-solve where needed.
• Ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability of iOS apps by applying coding patterns.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define system architecture and technical requirements.
• Work with product managers, designers, and backend developers to implement new features.
• Conduct code reviews, write tests, and implement QA processes for reliability and security.
• Gather requirements from clients and propose solutions that fit objectives and budget.
• Stay updated on industry trends and continuously improve development standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote adherence to standards and architecture.
