About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Instrument and Control Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems for their facilities in the Nelspruit area. This role is fundamental to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of complex process plants within the Oil & Gas industry . You will be responsible for specifying instrumentation, developing control strategies, configuring Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and troubleshooting system issues. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in industrial automation, process control, and safety systems, with extensive experience in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop specifications for instrumentation, control valves, and associated hardware and software.
• Design and implement process control strategies, including PID control loops and advanced control schemes.
• Configure and program Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in accordance with project requirements and safety standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience with major DCS (e.g., Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV) and SIS platforms (e.g., Triconex, Allen-Bradley).
• Strong understanding of process control principles, instrumentation technologies, and functional safety concepts.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
