Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial engineering with focus on production systems in heavy manufacturing or mining equipment.
• Extensive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma expertise; Black Belt certification highly desirable.
• Proven track record in leading complex, large-scale improvement projects; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with ERP and MES; ability to work in a demanding plant environment; strong leadership and communication capabilities.

Our client, a leader in the mining equipment manufacturing sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Industrial Engineer specializing in Production Systems . This role is critical for driving significant improvements in manufacturing efficiency, workflow design, and overall plant productivity at our facility in Rustenburg, North West . The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in heavy manufacturing environments, a deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, and a proven ability to lead complex improvement projects. You will be instrumental in optimizing production processes, implementing new technologies, and ensuring the highest standards of operational performance. Key Responsibilities

Lead the analysis, design, and implementation of production systems to optimize workflow, throughput, and efficiency. Develop and execute strategic initiatives for continuous improvement across all manufacturing areas. Utilize advanced Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and eliminate waste and inefficiencies. Oversee capacity planning, line balancing, and material flow optimization projects. Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify performance trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for enhancement. Manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation and adoption. Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including SOPs and best practices. Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff. Stay abreast of emerging manufacturing technologies and methodologies and recommend their adoption where appropriate. Ensure adherence to rigorous safety and quality standards within the production environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a significant focus on production systems in heavy manufacturing or mining equipment. Extensive expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Black Belt certification highly desirable), and operations management. Proven track record of successfully leading complex, large-scale improvement projects. Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in simulation software, CAD, and advanced data analysis tools. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES). Ability to work effectively in a demanding plant environment.
