Job summary

Placements24 in Paarl is seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Engineer to enhance manufacturing operations through design, implementation and maintenance of automated systems that improve efficiency, quality and safety across production processes.

You will design, develop and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs and SCADA, collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers, and develop documentation and standards to support operations. This is a hands-on, on-site role in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering with an automation focus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency with PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell) and HMI/SCADA development.
• Experience with robotics integration and industrial networking protocols.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automated control systems for manufacturing equipment.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Optimize existing automated processes for improved performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate automation solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including control system schematics and programming standards.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel.
