Job summary

Zutari, an established engineering firm in Africa, is seeking a senior Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer for design leadership on building services projects in Cape Town. You will drive concept-to-construction design, coordinate multi-disciplinary interfaces, and mentor a growing team of engineers.

Ideal candidates hold a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Mechanical Engineering, are registered professionals, and bring 7–10 years of HVAC experience with a proven ability to manage multiple teams and deliver

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering and active professional registration.
• 7–10 years of experience as a Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer.
• 3+ years managing multiple teams.
• 1–2 years mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong understanding of local and international codes and standards.
• Proficiency in Revit and mechanical simulation tools (HAP/IES).

Responsibilities

• Manage full design aspects for Mechanical (HVAC) Services across building services projects.
• Develop conceptual designs from requirements and codes to construction information.
• Lead a team to deliver compliant designs on schedule.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary interfaces.
• Develop scripts/add-ins to automate design checks (Dynamo, Python).
• Present work at client/pro meetings and maintain project progress updates.
• Maintain accountability for resourcing, quality, risk, scope, and finances.
• Establish and maintain client relationships and grow business.
• Plan and manage deliveries while mentoring the engineering team.
