Placements24 seeks a Senior HSE Officer to support operations in Soweto, Gauteng. You will implement HSE policies, conduct site inspections, investigate incidents and ensure compliance with SA regulations while promoting a positive safety culture in a hybrid work setting.

The role requires a qualified HSE professional with at least 5 years of experience in oil & gas or industrial sectors and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Hybrid work arrangement is offered in Soweto.

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the Oil & Gas industry, is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior HSE Officer to provide vital operations support in Soweto, Gauteng, ZA. This role is essential for upholding and improving our Health, Safety, and Environment standards across all operational activities. You will be responsible for implementing HSE policies, conducting site inspections, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HSE management systems and a proven ability to promote a positive safety culture. This position offers a Hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a blend of on-site presence and remote administrative work, ensuring efficient operations and compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
• Develop and deliver HSE training to employees at all levels.
• Promote a strong safety culture and encourage employee participation in HSE initiatives.
• Maintain accurate HSE records and prepare regular performance reports.
• Advise management on HSE matters and ensure effective implementation of policies.

Requirements

• Relevant HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH International General Certificate, SAMTRAC).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Health, Safety, and Environment role, preferably within the Oil & Gas or industrial sector.
• Thorough knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices in South Africa.
• Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and audits.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with the operational landscape of Soweto.
• Must be comfortable with a Hybrid work model.
