Placements24 is seeking a Senior HSE Officer for the Vereeniging area to lead safety initiatives across sites in the oil and gas sector. You will shape policies, drive risk reduction, and mentor teams to elevate the organization’s safety culture.

The role demands at least five years in HSE, familiarity with ISO 14001/45001, and proven training capabilities. Hybrid work options are available, with a focus on risk management and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSE role within oil and gas or related heavy industry.
• Knowledge of HSE management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Strong risk assessment techniques and hazard identification.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• HSE certifications NEBOSH or SAMTRAC desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental programs.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs for all employee levels.
• Ensure compliance with local and international HSE regulations and standards.
• Prepare HSE reports and maintain records of safety performance.
