Job summary

Blue Pearl PTY is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead a greenfield healthcare data platform project in Johannesburg. The role involves end-to-end delivery across discovery, assessment and implementation in a hybrid work model.

You will work with a legacy estate (Oracle, SAP BO, SAS) while migrating to cloud platforms (Snowflake, AWS) and enabling self-service analytics with Power BI. The role emphasizes governance, metadata, and AI/LLM driven data discovery.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database, SQL development and optimisation.
• Experience with SAP BusinessObjects (BO) and SAS.
• Proficiency in Power BI and self-service analytics.
• Knowledge of data profiling, quality assessment and metadata management.

Responsibilities

• Discovery & Assessment: baseline the current reporting landscape and analyse complex environments.
• Design and implement robust ETL/data engineering solutions to improve efficiency.
• Develop automated validation, reconciliation and QA controls; establish audit trails.
• Self-Service Analytics: enable governed Power BI assets and centralised metadata catalogue.
• Stakeholder Management: engage with business and technical stakeholders and drive delivery.
• Performance & Outcomes: define KPIs for reduced manual effort and increased capacity.
