Job summary

Placements24's client is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives near Randburg. You will develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety programs across operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and a secure working environment for all personnel.

The role requires extensive mining-sector health and safety knowledge, strong leadership, and the ability to drive safety performance improvements while fostering a culture of safety and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., SAMTRAC, NOSA) is desirable.
• Minimum 8 years in health and safety management, with mining industry experience.
• In-depth knowledge of SA OHS Act and Mine Health and Safety Act regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the Health and Safety Management System.
• Conduct site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and actions.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for all staff levels.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Promote a positive, proactive safety culture across the organization.
