Placements24 is seeking a Senior Haulage Truck Operator for our mining client in Soweto, Gauteng. The role requires operating large-capacity haulage trucks, adhering to safety protocols, and delivering ore and waste materials across the mine site.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, report issues, mentor junior operators, and work rotating shifts including nights and weekends. A strong track record of safe operation and familiarity with heavy equipment such as Caterpillar or Komatsu is

Qualifications

• Code 14 with PDP is required.
• 5+ years experience operating large haulage trucks in mining or heavy construction.
• Proven safe driving record with no major infringements.
• Experience with large-capacity trucks (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu).
• Ability to perform basic pre-operational checks.
• Good physical condition for long shifts.
• Strong understanding of mine safety regulations.
• Team-oriented and able to follow instructions.
• Willingness to work night, weekend and holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate large capacity haulage trucks safely and efficiently in a mining environment.
• Transport ore, waste rock and other materials as directed by supervisors.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete safety checks.
• Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly to supervisors.
• Adhere to all safety policies and traffic management plans.
• Maintain clean and orderly work habits and vehicle cab.
• Follow designated haul routes and site speed limits.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior operators.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
• Operate in varying weather and challenging terrains.
