Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of mining and construction machinery in Mahikeng, North West. The role involves diagnostics, major repairs, and ensuring safe, efficient operation of excavators, bulldozers, loaders and haul trucks.

The ideal candidate has a trade qualification and at least 5 years of hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems, with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Heavy Equipment Mechanic or equivalent.
• 5+ years experience on heavy construction or mining equipment.
• Strong diagnostic, repair and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, inspections and diagnostics on excavators, bulldozers, loaders and haul trucks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues.
• Conduct major repairs, overhauls and component replacements.
• Interpret manuals, bulletins and diagnostic codes for procedures.
• Maintain records and manage spare parts inventory.
• Respond to emergency repair calls to minimize downtime.
