SET Recruitment Consultants is seeking a Senior Grid & Electrical Engineer to lead grid connection, electrical engineering and SCADA-related scopes across major renewable energy projects in South Africa, including wind, solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The role requires a BEng or BTech in Electrical Engineering, 7+ years of power engineering experience, and registration with ECSA (PrEng/PrTech or near) plus strong SA grid knowledge.

Formación

• Bachelor-level electrical engineering degree required.
• 7+ years of relevant power engineering experience.
• Registered as PrEng or PrTech with ECSA or close to registration.
• Strong SA grid connection experience including Eskom/NERSA engagement.
• Experience with HV/MV infrastructure, substations or balance of plant on renewable/utility-scale.
• Knowledge of SA Grid Codes; DIgSILENT PowerFactory proficiency.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel.

Are you an experienced Grid and Electrical Engineer looking to play a key technical role in South Africa’s renewable energy sector?

Our client is seeking a Senior Grid & Electrical Engineer to lead grid connection, electrical engineering and SCADA-related scopes across major renewable energy projects, including wind, solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead grid connection strategies and manage technical engagements with Eskom and NERSA.

• Oversee grid compliance, substation design reviews and HV/MV electrical infrastructure.

• Review and approve electrical designs, technical specifications and contractor submissions.

• Provide technical oversight of SCADA and Power Plant Controller (PPC) systems.

• Manage engineering scopes, assess technical risks and support project delivery.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng or BTech degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.

• At least 7 years of relevant power engineering experience.

• Registered as a PrEng or PrTech with ECSA, or demonstrably close to professional registration.

• Strong experience in South African grid connection engineering, including engagement with Eskom and NERSA.

• Experience with HV/MV infrastructure, substations or electrical balance of plant on renewable energy or utility-scale projects.

• Strong knowledge of South African Grid Codes and proficiency in DIgSILENT PowerFactory.

• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.

Experience with SCADA/PPC systems, BESS projects, PSCAD/PSS®E and FIDIC contracts will be advantageous.
