Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking a highly experienced Principal Cloud Architect (Google Cloud) to partner with enterprise sales, consulting, and delivery teams in designing scalable, secure, resilient cloud solutions for clients across South Africa and the Middle East & Africa.

You will lead architectural governance, drive migration and modernization, and mentor a team of architects while staying current with cloud-native technologies and FinOps best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of IT infrastructure, cloud architecture, or platform engineering, with at least 4 years focused on Google Cloud.
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification (required or strongly preferred).
• Deep expertise across Google Cloud services including VPC, Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, IAM, Monitoring, DNS, and backups.
• Strong experience designing enterprise networking, identity, security, and governance architectures within Google Cloud.
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform and Google Cloud automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of DevOps and platform engineering, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and governance of enterprise-scale Google Cloud solutions.
• Partner with sales and stakeholders to craft cloud strategies and roadmaps.
• Design highly available, secure, scalable Google Cloud platforms using best practices.
• Define target-state architectures for networking, security, observability, and DR.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Deployment Manager.
• Provide architectural leadership for migration and modernization projects.
• Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, security, and applications teams to enable CI/CD.
• Drive cloud security, compliance, governance, and FinOps best practices.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical oversight during delivery.
• Present technical solutions to executives and clients; mentor junior architects.
