Placements24 is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent for a prestigious golf club in Klerksdorp, North West. In this hands-on role you will support the Superintendent in maintaining championship greens, fairways and landscape, while leading a team and helping manage budgets.

You will implement turfgrass programs, monitor turf health, assist with irrigation, pesticides, and course improvements, and ensure safety and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in horticulture/turfgrass management required.
• Minimum 2 years in golf course maintenance.
• IPM knowledge and turfgrass science understanding.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in planning and executing daily course maintenance activities.

About the Role

Our client, a prestigious golf club, is seeking a diligent and skilled Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support the daily operations and maintenance of their championship course located in Klerksdorp, North West . This hands-on role is integral to maintaining the immaculate condition of the greens, fairways, and surrounding landscape. The successful candidate will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, assisting in team management, budget adherence, and the implementation of turfgrass management programs. Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in planning and executing daily course maintenance activities, including mowing, fertilization, and irrigation.
• Supervise and direct a team of groundskeepers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards.
• Operate and maintain a variety of golf course maintenance equipment.
• Monitor turf health, identify pests and diseases, and implement appropriate control measures.
• Assist in the calibration and application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides.
• Oversee irrigation systems, ensuring optimal water management.
• Participate in the development and implementation of course improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures on the course.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of turfgrass science, pest and disease identification, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining golf course maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Passion for golf and a commitment to maintaining world-class playing surfaces.
