Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geophysicist to join our client’s technical team in Vereeniging. You will lead seismic interpretation, processing, and subsurface modeling to support drilling decisions.

Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers on integrated studies, plan seismic acquisition programs, and evaluate software tools. Requires 8+ years in Oil & Gas and a Master’s or PhD in Geophysics.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geophysics or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of seismic interpretation experience in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation software (Petrel, HampsonRussell, OpendTect).
• Strong understanding of seismic data acquisition, processing, and attribute analysis techniques.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in exploration strategy and prospect risking preferred near Vereeniging.

Responsibilities

• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify geological structures, stratigraphic features, and potential hydrocarbon traps.
• Perform seismic attribute analysis, inversion, and velocity modeling to enhance subsurface understanding.
