Placements24 is seeking a Lead Geneticist in Bloemfontein to direct molecular diagnostics and oversee assay development. You will manage a team of scientists and technicians, interpret complex genetic data, and ensure high-quality patient-focused diagnostic services.

The role requires a PhD in Genetics or related field and at least 7 years of leadership experience in clinical genetics or molecular diagnostics.

Qualifications

• PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field with human genetics specialization.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in clinical genetics or molecular diagnostics with leadership experience.
• Experience with clinical lab regulations and quality management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of molecular diagnostic assays for genetic disorders.
• Oversee daily operations of the molecular diagnostics laboratory with quality control.
• Interpret complex sequencing data and provide clinical correlations to physicians.
• Manage and mentor a team of geneticists, technicians, and research staff.
• Stay updated on new technologies in clinical genetics and diagnostics.
• Contribute to research to discover new genetic markers and improve algorithms.
