Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geneticist to lead diagnostics development at their Port Elizabeth facility. You will drive design, development, and validation of novel genetic tests for diverse applications, guiding complex research projects and collaborating across cross-functional teams to advance personalized medicine.

The role requires a Ph.D. in Genetics or related life sciences and at least 7 years of experience in genetic research or diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related life science discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in genetic research or diagnostics development.
• Expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and data interpretation.
• Strong knowledge of population and clinical genetics, and gene mapping techniques.
• Experience in assay design, optimization, and validation for diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of new genetic assays and diagnostic platforms from concept to clinical validation.
• Perform complex molecular genetic analyses including DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, and genotyping.
• Analyze and interpret genetic data to identify key markers and variants.
• Ensure all R&D activities meet quality control and regulatory standards.
