Placements24 is seeking a Senior Game Systems Designer for a hybrid in-office/remote role based in Soweto, Gauteng, ZA. You will design, balance, and document complex game systems across multiple titles, collaborating with engineers, artists, and producers to deliver cohesive player experiences.

You will analyze data, iterate on balance, and mentor junior designers while ensuring systems support the game's narrative and audience. A strong portfolio and deep design knowledge are essential.

Formación

• Proven experience as a Game Systems Designer with a portfolio of designed systems in shipped titles or significant prototypes.
• Deep understanding of game design theory, player psychology, and balancing mechanics.
• Experience with scripting for prototyping and balancing is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Design, document, and balance core game systems including combat mechanics, economy, progression, AI behavior, and player progression.
• Create detailed design documents, flowcharts, and wireframes to communicate system designs clearly.
• Collaborate with engineers, artists, and producers to implement and iterate on game systems.
• Analyze player data and feedback to identify improvement and balance opportunities.
• Prototype and playtest game systems to ensure engaging experiences.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to the studio's design vision.
• Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in game systems design.
• Ensure systems align with the game's narrative, theme and target audience.
