Job summary

AES Global is seeking a Fire Engineer (building services) for our Cape Town team. You will develop fire-safety and fire-compliance designs for construction projects in South Africa and abroad, managing projects from small to large as part of the fire design team.

You will apply SANS deemed-to-satisfy standards and rational fire-safety design, including firefighting equipment, extraction, stair-pressurisation and sprinkler systems, while representing the firm in client meetings and surveys.

Qualifications

• BTech or BEng in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 5 years’ fire engineering experience within building services.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans, bilingual client interaction.
• ECSA registration or intent to apply for it.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire-safety and fire-compliance designs for construction projects.
• Apply SANS deemed-to-satisfy and rational fire-safety design (firefighting, extraction, stair-pressurisation, sprinklers).
• Manage small to medium projects with limited guidance and contribute to larger ones.
• Represent the firm in client meetings, site visits and surveys.
• Assist with tender documentation and project-management administration.
