Job summary

RPO Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Fire Engineer to join a well-established consulting engineering firm in Cape Town. You will work in the Building Services division on a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial projects, handling fire protection design from concept through to close-out.

The role requires at least 3 years in consulting engineering, registration as Pr Eng, and a solid grasp of NFPA, BS, SANS, and ASIB standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' consulting engineering experience in Building Services.
• Professional registration as Pr Eng with Engineering Council of South Africa.
• Strong knowledge of fire engineering principles and standards.
• Experience across full design and construction lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Deliver project stages 1–6 from concept to close-out.
• Design fire protection systems for building services.
• Conduct fire risk analyses and calculations for systems.
• Prepare technical and tender documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide site inspections and construction support.
