Job summary

SARS is seeking a Senior Auditor (Financial Services) to conduct advanced audits of complex nature, provide technical support, and identify tax gaps. The role involves analysis across tax types, engagement with debt management, and input into governance and policy changes.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma with extensive tax audit experience. Location is Woodmead North Office Park, with closing date 15 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Relevant Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) with 6 years' tax audit experience, including 4 years in primary tax types.
• Experience in Corporate Income Tax, specialised financial products, corporate restructurings, long term insurance, non-life insurance and banking; and mergers & acquisitions transactions.

Responsibilities

• Accumulate information to review work progress for reporting and improvement opportunities.
• Analyse complex data and risks across tax types and entities.
• Analyse transactions of complex nature across multiple tax types to understand tax implications.
• Conduct audits in line with Acts/Regulations using SARS systems.
• Engage with Debt Management to optimise collection on liabilities.
• Provide inputs to policies and procedures and draft relevant guidelines.

Education

Relevant Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) and 6 years' experience in a tax audit environment including 4 years of audit experience in primary tax types
