Our client, a luxury property group in Midrand, seeks a detail‑driven Financial Accountant to join their finance team. You will manage financial records, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive accurate reporting across multiple properties.

You will lead a small team, collaborate with Finance, Operations and General Managers, and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and year-end audits in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) and a BCom Accounting.
• Minimum 5 years experience as an Accountant in a project/decentralised environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly flash reports and management accounts.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations within deadlines.
• Analyse project profitability, utilisation and WIP schedules.

Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong cost control, and effective project financial management. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, operational environment where your insights directly impact business performance.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations, monthly reporting, project cost control, VAT, debtors, forecasting, and financial compliance.

This role requires strong project accounting experience and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a decentralised and complex environment.

Duties

• Prepare monthly flash reports and management accounts

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 5 years experience as an Accountant
• 35 years project accounting experience preferred
• Experience in complex or decentralised environments
• Experience calculating cost of manufacturing (finished goods)
• Minimum 2 years experience with VAT, dividends, and provisional tax reconciliations
• Supervisory experience advantageous
• Advanced Excel
• Strong understanding of IFRS
• Financial systems experience (e.g., MS Dynamics AX or similar)
• Solid knowledge of financial compliance and reporting standards

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the development and maintenance of financial controls across all aspects of the unit’s business

Collaborate with Finance Managers, Operations Managers, and General Managers on budgets, programmes, schedules, and objectives to ensure efficient and profitable operations

Analyse and interpret monthly financial accounts for each property, reporting anomalies to the Group CEO

Oversee year-end audits of the properties

Prepare and present monthly financial packs and weekly financial reports to the Finance Manager

Compile variance reports on all budget overspends and highlight discrepancies, changes in policy, or strategy

Ensure compliance with financial manuals, checklists, and procedures; draft new policies as required for CEO approval

Supervise and mentor accounting staff, improving skill levels and promoting job satisfaction

Oversee personnel functions, including maintenance of employee files, contracts, leave schedules, payroll, medical aid, provident fund, statutory compliance, and audits of documentation

System Requirements

Proficient in Microsoft Office, with good to advanced Excel skills

Experience with SAGE ONE

Experience with VIP Payroll / Payspace

Understanding of CIMSO system is a plus

Minimum Experience & Requirements

• 2–4 years’ experience as a Financial Accountant or Manager within the hospitality industry
• Matric required; further accounting/finance qualification is a bonus
• Valid RSA ID
• Strong leadership qualities and commercial awareness
