Our client, a dynamic and award-winning independent film production company situated in the picturesque coastal city of Cape Town, Western Cape , is seeking a highly skilled and creative Senior Film Editor . This role is central to our post-production process, responsible for shaping narratives and crafting compelling visual stories. The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of cinematic pacing, rhythm, and storytelling, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with directors and producers. You will work on a variety of projects, including feature films, documentaries, and short films, transforming raw footage into polished, engaging content. Key Responsibilities

• Edit raw footage into coherent and compelling narratives, adhering to the director's vision and project requirements.
• Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and other post-production team members to achieve the desired aesthetic and storytelling goals.
• Select the best takes, sequences, and sound elements to create engaging pacing and emotional impact.
• Perform rough cuts, fine cuts, and final edits for various film projects.
• Incorporate visual effects, motion graphics, and sound design elements as required.
• Manage and organize project files, media assets, and editing timelines efficiently.
• Ensure technical quality and delivery specifications are met for all final outputs.
• Stay updated on the latest editing techniques, software, and industry trends.
• Provide creative input and solutions during the editing process.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience as a Film Editor, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of narrative films, documentaries, or commercial projects.
• Proficiency in professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, or DaVinci Resolve.
• Excellent understanding of storytelling, pacing, rhythm, and narrative structure in film.
• Strong grasp of visual effects, color grading, and sound editing principles.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for visual and auditory coherence.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Experience working remotely and managing projects independently is essential for this role.
• A degree in Film, Media, or a related field is preferred.
