Job summary

Headhunters is seeking a Junior Field Technician to join our technical team in Gauteng. You will conduct site assessments, installations, repairs and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment, and ensure safety and quality standards on every job.

The role requires hands-on technical experience, valid SA driver and forklift licenses, and a proactive approach to problem solving and customer service on site.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
• Technical Trade Certificate and any additional trade qualification are advantageous.
• Valid South African Driver’s License and forklift license are required.
• Working at Heights certification and risk assessment qualification are preferred.
• First Aid Level 1 is required; welding experience is advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Junior Field Technician; 3+ years in technical/industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Site Assessment and Preparation: conduct inspections, measure requirements, assemble installation packs, ensure OHS compliance.
• Installations: perform installations on time, within budget, ensuring quality and proper handover.
• Repairs and Maintenance: fault-finding and servicing of mechanical/electrical equipment; aim for first-time fix.
• Quality Control and Commissioning: maintain high standards and provide documentation.
• General Technical Duties: maintain technical knowledge and troubleshoot issues.
• Tools/Work Environment: maintain tools, conduct inspections, keep a clean safe workspace with PPE compliance.
• Customer Service: deliver professional on-site service and build customer relationships.
• Team Responsibilities: mentor juniors, assist teammates, lead by example.
