Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Network Engineer for a leading telecommunications provider in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu‑Natal. The role focuses on design, implementation and maintenance of a fibre optics network to support a growing customer base.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS/EE/Telecommunications or related field required.
5–7 years of network engineering experience with fibre optics focus.
Proven expertise in routing protocols (BGP/OSPF), MPLS and DWDM/GPON.
Hands-on with SolarWinds or Nagios monitoring tools.
Certifications CCNA/CCNP/CCIE desirable.

Responsibilities

Design, configure, and deploy complex network solutions with fibre optics emphasis.
Monitor performance and troubleshoot to ensure high availability and optimal user experience.
Develop and maintain network documentation including topology diagrams.
Collaborate with project managers and field engineers for upgrades and installations.
Conduct capacity planning and recommend enhancements for future demands.
Implement and manage network security policies.
